Phranang Beach is the neighboring beach of Railay Beach and has often been described in tourist guides as one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand or even worldwide.
At the beginning of the 90's a luxury hotel was built and the ownwers would have liked to see if the Phra Nang Beach beach became a private beach of the hotel.
However, this thinking was not compatible with Thai laws, according to which all beaches belong to the state and so tourists can still go there by boats from Ao Nang or other places, for a nice day at the Phranang Beach. The hotel even had to leave a narrow path along the rocks to connect to Railay East Beach. So you can walk to Phranang Beach from there.
On the beach there are sometimes a few longtail boats with kind of a snack bar on board, which provide the tourists with Thai food and ice-cold soft drinks.

You also have to walk the narrow path if you want to reach the view point on top of the mountain or the famous lagoon inside the mountain. However, you should bring a reasonably footwear and a few climbing skills.
The area around the Phranang Beach with the small, offshore rock island, is also ideal for canoeing. These can be rented, either for half day or full day and for a fee, at Railay Beach.
