The island of Koh Lanta also belongs to the province of Krabi in Thailand and was first discovered by tourism in the mid-90s. At the time, there were a few 150 Baht bungalow resorts on the main beach of the island and a dusty and unpaved red earth road that ran from the top to the bottom of the island.
Of course, everything looks very different today. The hotel and bungalow facilities on Koh Lanta have been upgraded and offer an outstanding, international standard.
The main road of the island is now paved and not as dusty as it was then, and a number of international diving schools are offering their customers trips to some of Thailand's top dive sites in the south of the country.
The two main beaches of the island, Klong Dao Beach and Long Beach, fall slowly into the water and are therefore ideal both at low tide and high tide for swimming for young and old. Even at low tide there are no stones that would interfere with the fun of swimming.
Similar to Koh Samui, most of the hotel and bungalow resorts on Koh Lanta are right on the beach and are not separated from the beach by a road. Koh Lanta is therefore the ideal island for swimming, diving and sunbathing and for a peaceful holiday.
We wish you a nice holiday on Koh Lanta!
